Stephane Tempier is the first leader of 2019 Internazionali d'Italia Series. Team Bianchi Countervail's Frenchman soloed to win the opening round, the Andora Race Cup, held in Andora (Italy) on Saturday, March 2nd. Proving to be in an excellent shape, as he did six days before in Banyoles (Spain), the Frenchman finished the race in 1:26:33, with a 33-second advantage on Andrea Tiberi and 1:18 on Gerhard Kerschbaumer. Tempier's teammate Nadir Colledani placed 14th with a 4:41 gap.
“I am glad to have won this beautiful race, breaking the ice so early in the new season. After the good display in Banyoles, I was confident in my chances for the big goal, even though I knew I would face the best of Italian MTB. I really liked the course, dry but very technical, and after a good start I opted for a head race, forcing the pace from the beginning. It panned out well” told Tempier, winner of the Internazionali d’Italia Series’s GC both in 2010 and 2016.
Tempier  will defend his leader’s jersey at the Hors Categorie Marlene Südtirol Sunshine Race in Nals (Italy) on Sunday, April 14th.
After the attack in the early race, bringing her in the lead after the opening lap, Chiara Teocchi had to settle for the fourth position in 1:31:30, one minute and 26 seconds behind the winner Martina Berta.
