Chiara Teocchi welcomed the new year dressing the new Team Bianchi Countervail's racing kit to the victory in the Memorial Romano Scotti, Giro d'Italia Ciclocross sixth and final round in Rome's Capannelle Hippodrome on Saturday, January 6th. Teocchi rode her Zolder Pro disc to success, outsprinting Silvia Persico after a thrilling duel, whilst Francesca Baroni rounded out the podium. Nadir Colledani also tried to leave his mark, constantly in the Men's Open race frontline and eventually finishing third behind Jacob Dorigoni and Cristian Cominelli.
"It was a close race – Chiara Teocchi commented -. I knew the course was really fast and that leading the race after the final turn could mean winning the race. It was really nice to inaugurate the new racing kit and the 2019 with a success, with the support of our new sponsors Garmin and Kask. I'm really happy in view of upcoming Italian Championships. I guess we can expect another fast race, as weather forecasts didn’t announce any rain in Milan".
"I tried several attacks and I was leading the race until the final turn – Nadir Colledani explained - as Dorigoni overtook me internally and I preferred to avoid any risk. There was a touch and I took my foot off, my only goal was not to have injuries as my seasonal goals are still to come. I aim for the CX Italian Championships to be held next January 13rd and I can say I'm satisfied with today's performance. I like Milan's course and I'm properly motivated and serene to look for the victory".
