With the World Cup efforts now behind them, Team Bianchi Countervail's four riders are now ready to take in the XCO World Championships. The team’s complete roster, with Nadir Colledani, Marco Aurelio Fontana, Stephane Tempier and Chiara Teocchi, will compete in Cross Country races in Lenzerheide (Switzerland). Teocchi will ride Methanol CV in Women's Under 23 race on Friday, September 7th at 2.30 PM. Colledani, Fontana and Tempier will enter the Men's Elite race on Saturday, September 8th at 3.30 PM.
The team’s three élite riders look to rediscover their spring form to provide an exciting performance for them, the team and the fans. Stephane Tempier comes to the Worlds test at the end of a season in which he won the Garda Lake MTB Race and was runner-up at Marlene Sunshine Race, Oeztaler Forest Cross, Coupe de France VTT in Ussel and, above all, in the World Cup Round in Albstadt, beyond placing sixth at XCO Europeans in Glasgow and XCO French Championships (thanks to an exciting comeback). The victories at Grici XC and XC Kamnik shine among Colledani's results, as well as the podium spots at Alpago MTB Trophy and Garda Lake MTB Race's Granfondo and the fifth position at the XCO Italian Championships. In addition to the success at Laigueglia MTB Classic, in 2018 Marco Aurelio Fontana has stepped-up on Garda Lake MTB Race's podium twice (XCO stage and overall) and placed sixth in XCO World Cup's Short Track stage in Nove Mesto na Morave, XCO European and Italian championships.
"The course is technical and demanding, there are roots and technical stretches but you also need to push, so it will be a hard race and I think I'll ride Methanol 29.1 FS. I'm almost fresh because I haven't competed in the final World Cup round in France and I'm training to go for my best possible performance at the Worlds. I think a Top 15 placement would be good for me, I strongly want it. It will be an exciting race" Fontana says.
Team Relay's European champion in 2018 (and fifth in Women's Under 23 XCO race), bronze medallist in her first XCO Italian Championships among Elite Women, Teocchi won the Scott Valdarda Bike this year in Italy. Now she dreams of medal at Worlds: "Lenzerheide's course is the classic one, beautiful and natural: I really like it. Today I'll run the last official training, before Friday's race. I will wear the number 7, so a top-7 should be the minimum goal, but my dream is to win a medal"
Bianchi supplies the team with two high end carbon models with racing geometry: the revolutionary Methanol CV and the Methanol 29.1 Full Suspension.
